Apego has been dealing with molds intended for cross-linked EVA products since the 1980s, and for the past few years has been specializing in finished shoes made from the same material.
Because the material injected directly into the mold undergoes a significant expansion process, the level of precision of the mold must be decidedly high to keep burrs under control.
Tread, upper, and wedge had to return precise and flawless details that recalled the brand’s iconic design. Apego took on the challenge and made, using proprietary technology, a fully mechanical mold (as opposed to classic casting molds) milled in five axes, achieving extremely precise centesimal fasteners. Laser finishing to achieve precise textures and upper designs that took into account the degree of EVA expansion and the reliable repeatability of the processes completed the project.
